When you step outside you hear them, “Caw! Caw!” Rackety crows, are perched in treetops and sitting on roof peaks, sentinels protecting their territory. Some of the guys at work thought neighborhood kids were writing on their pick-up side mirrors with crayons. It turned out to be crows, pecking at their own reflections. They thought they were fighting a rival, but only blunted their beaks on themselves, leaving colorful marks behind. Sitting eating my lunch, I see a crow land on a truck mirror. Soon, he’s attacking himself. I catch my own reflection in the window: “Are people any different?”
