Strictly Prohibited | One-Hundred-Word Story

It’s a beautiful white house on a quiet street, but something is out of place; there’s a fire hydrant bolted onto the brick pavers, near the front door. Stray dogs stop by to relieve themselves. Fire trucks pull up, lights and sirens going, to refill their tanks. (Someone should tell them it’s not real.) But the owner refuses to remove the hydrant, despite pleas from the neighbors and even his own family. His teenage son pulls up in the massive driveway, trying to park as close to the front door as possible.

“You can’t do that,” quips dad. “It’s illegal.”

This makes me giggle, David! “Can’t park there!” ps…”can’t squat there, dog?”

Thanks for reading and commenting, Karla! You’re right, the dad could tell visiting dogs it’s not legal to “park” themselves by the hydrant. But Finley is welcome any time!

You’re welcome, David. And do you know how cute Finley is when she even goes potty. Or am I just a mom talking??
I’ve had to block calls, muster up strength, rearrange tasks, ….more importantly, UTILIZE the Holy Spirit to block out time to come here and enjoy writing like yours. After my 3 infusions Friday and the virus, taking care of my precious parents….oh, friend. I miss it here. I’m praying for you, the students, staff, evenmore so, your precious family! God be with us all!
Thank you for being such a supportive friend!

You’re welcome, Karla. I’m praying on for you! We’ve been on fall break this past week, and go back tomorrow. Sweet Finley! A good dog is the best. 🤗
